This time I visited a hidden but quite popular beach, the Panggungan Beach. Tucked away between the scenic shore of Kedungu Beach and the magnificent Tanah Lot Temple, this unspoiled beach is the best kept secret around Kediri, Tabanan Bali. This is a grayish-black sandy beach, not too long and resembles a small cove. From this spot I can enjoy breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, sea cliffs, blue water, nice river and green grassy hills. I think every visitor who comes here will be amazed by its beauty.
This secret beach is situated in Belalang Village, Kediri, Tabanan Regency, Bali. This spot is easily accessible, and it’s about an hour from Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Visitors can reach it through the Jl. By Pass Tanah Lot, then continue on the Jl. Kedungu in Beraban Beach. Follow this same road until you hit the Belalang Village and the beach is at the southern end. You will see the entrance gate (Candi Bentar), this is access to the beach. You will cross a limestone road, wide enough and possible for a car.
Make sure you come prepared; there are no food-stalls on the beach. But if you don't have time, near the entrance gate there is a good restaurant, The Fat Hog. There is unique street art artwork painted on the walls of the restaurant. Here you can enjoy the dishes you like, while resting for a moment and looking at the fertile rice fields and blue sea in the distance.
Along the access road, I was accompanied by a panoramic view of the lush green landscape. I was fortunate enough to see white egrets or "Kokokan" (in Balinese), among rice plants. These birds are now increasingly rare.
At the end of this road, I passed a small path between the rice fields. After a few steps, finally arrived at a flat area with an awesome view. This is a headland, a towering rock cliff jutting into the sea with green grass on it, commonly called Kedungu Cliff.
From this spot, I can enjoy the panorama of the sea and surroundings more freely, with spacious views almost in all directions. I can see the Tanah Lot Temple at the eastern end, while in the opposite is an amazing view of the coastline from Kedungu Beach to Batu Tampih Beach and so on. On the right (west side), you can see a beautiful sea cliff formation with water droplets on the rocks, while on the left is a lovely pristine beach.
This made me so interested and decided to go down to the beach past the side of a cliff that seemed to have been cut. From local residents' information, it was stated that in the past many people had been mining "padas" stones on the beach. This activity leaves traces of stone that has been cut, resembling block steps.
For me, this is a stunning piece of beach, surrounded by small hills, rock cliffs and rice fields. This is a great fishing spot from the cliffs. In addition, fishermen are often seen throwing fishing nets between rocks on the beach.
I was so fascinated by the small river and its clear fresh water, flowing between two green hills and directly down to the beach. The flow is not too big; I crossed it and went up to the next hill. The meadow has a bit dried and there are burn marks. Here I found few cattle owned by local residents, who roam and graze. They were quite vigilant and always watched my movements.
This beach is far from the crowd and secluded. There are no houses around it, only small hills and rice fields. This is ideal for couples on a romantic getaway, or anyone who wants to discover the magical of this hidden beach. If you are lucky, you can enjoy all these miracles just for yourself.
Here are rarely visitors, so calm and not much disturbance. This spot is usually one of the recommendations for a pre-wedding photo session with the theme of natural beaches and green-blue sea, grassy hills, rock cliffs, river, and beautiful sunset.
This is a truly natural and beautiful beach, where you can spend time by the sea and relax while enjoying a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. There are cave formations at the base of the cliff, nice for spot photos or just to take shelter from the hot sun.
The beach is relatively quiet in the morning and has a calm and serene ambiance. This is a fun weekend getaway, nice places to chill and refresh you mind. You can enjoy morning jog, bike-ride along the rice field or sunbathing on a nice pristine beach while listening to the sound of the waves. Visitors are not recommended for swimming and wading due to strong waves and sea currents. This spot is also close to the Bali famous surfing spots such as: Tanah Lot Beach, Kedungu Beach and Yeh Gangga Beach.
You can spend a long time here. If you consider staying overnight, there are several villas that are quite close to the beach, such as: D'sawah Villa Kedungu, Silversand Villa, Villa Ombak Kedungu, Villa Puspa Kedungu, Kubu Kedungu, etc.
Not much shade here and its feels hot in the day. It would be better to visit in the morning or afternoon when the weather is cooler. The beach is situated on the West Coast of Bali and is blessed with a breathtaking sunset. This is a stunning natural blend of a hidden beach, cliffs and hills, rice fields, blue sea and romantic sunsets. This creates a nice vibe and rejuvenating mind and soul.
