Gala-Gala cave is one of the uniqueness of Nusa Lembongan, an underground house with an area of about 500 square meters, complete with sleeping room, living room, kitchen, well, etc. This underground house was built by Made Byasa in 1961 and completed in 1976.

The entrance to the cave is rather narrow, visitors have to descend a few steps. Then you will arrive at the room and hallway, not too high with lighting in some corners.
There are three vents that keep air circulation into this underground house. There is also a relief called "Surya Sengkala" which shows the end of making of the Gala-Gala.
The relief is in the form of carvings shaped: human = 1, elephant = 8, gate = 9, and turtle = 8, which shows the number of years 1898 in the Hindu calendar (Caka), or 1976 AD.
Made Byasa in his daily life is a farmer, dancer, priest and also mangku dalang (Balinese puppet master).
As a puppet master he was inspired by the Mahabharata Epic, when the Pandavas were exiled to the middle of the forest for 12 years. Pandavas, who feel his life is threatened by Kurawa, then build an underground house, called the "Gala-Gala", to protect his family.
