Sawangan Beach is a long stretch white sand beach with scenic view, clear sea-water, high cliff, green vegetation and serene atmosphere. This beach is located in Sawangan-Benoa (at the south of Geger and Nusa Dua Beach), district of South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali.
Access to the beach through Jl. Gunung Payung I, a paving street just before the Hilton Bali (formerly Grand Nikko Bali). The entrance is still in structuring (July 2017), the limestone cliffs are cut to create better access. Parking is available for motorcycles.
From the parking area you can enjoy the atmosphere and the beauty of the beach. Walking down the path accompanied by waves and cool beach breezes.
In the northernmost part of the beach is managed by local fishermen. The next is the beach in front of Hilton Bali and in front of Serenity. This beach is close to the parking lot, there are temples and food stalls. Many traditional fishing boats here, colorful, and neatly arranged on the beach.
In the middle is the beach in front of Kempinski Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Bali. There are some jetties, quite long, built by the management for breakwaters. This activity is part of an accommodation development project located in the area. This project has been an issue related to surf spot.
This beach is also a home for sea turtle to lay eggs during the nesting season. The hotel's security moved the eggs into small hatcheries on the beach. After the eggs hatch into hatchlings, they will be released back into the sea.
The southern coast is Dukuh Beach, Taman Sari Beach, and the beach in front of Samabe Bali and Ulu Segara Villas. This beach is relatively well maintained and beautiful, maybe a bit of trash around Dukuh Beach.
There is a sacred area of Taman Sari Beach which is part of Pura Dalem Karang Boma (Pura Barong-Barongan), one of the important temples for Balinese. Many natural cave formations are visible next to this beach. Unfortunately, these have been privately managed.
Visitors can explore the beauty along the Sawangan Beach, from the north end to the south. There is no footpath and need to be careful, the beach in front of the hotel is relatively well maintained. But on the beach that is still natural, there is a lot of seaweed and garbage.
You can enjoy the view of the white sandy beaches, while playing sand, kites, and looking at the vast ocean with rolling waves accompanied by cool sea breezes.
Many hardwoods, sea pandanus and other green vegetation adorn the limestone cliffs, adding to the shady atmosphere at Sawangan Beach Bali. From here often seen paragliding attractions. This beach is also the perfect location for pre wedding photos, camel safari, and canoeing (in the south).
